Books > The Hair Project

Most humans lose 100 to 200 hairs per day during the normal process of exfoliation. The bulb at the end of hair contains the DNA of the individual, and when they shed their hair, they leave a piece of their genetic identity in the environment. Because hair contains genetic material [DNA], can be extracted to determine an individual's identity. It is also made of molecules that will eventually become incorporated into the environment. The Hair Project is a way for individuals to choose the place where they leave their genetic identity.
